I recently ordered a nice ultra slim external hard drive that didn't come with an external power supply. It is designed to be powered directly from the power supplied by the USB port itself. The problem is that my games console, which was supposed to power the hard drive, didn't have the latest USB ports and therefore wasn't supplying enough power to run the hard drive. That's where this cable comes in. Since my game console has two USB 2.0 ports, this Y-cable allowed me to use the power of BOTH ports to power the hard drive. Worked great. This is a good solution for those trying to connect modern USB 3.0 devices to older USB 2.0 ports. The price is great, the product seems to be of good quality. Very satisfied.
