Review on Apogee Underwater Aquarium Bundle Corrosion by James Bullets

I needed a PAR meter and from all the positive reviews I knew that I needed Apogee. I also liked that it comes with a pole/handle to make it much easier to place the meter in different places without leaving room for an arm or hand. The problem is that the device only stayed on for 10 seconds. turns off automatically. It turned on immediately when I pressed the power button, but the cycle continued. I tried different batteries and the same result. When it was on it worked very well and I assume it's accurate (no way to test). I'm sure I got a defective unit, but for almost $600 I expected this work to be perfect out of the box and last forever. Now I'm frustrated and debating whether to roll this or another apogee gauge. Or should I just try a different brand.
