When my old shoes wore out, I started shopping. Pretty soon I figured updating my sneakers was like wearing underwear - I felt like I needed a new pair every day. One pair was too stiff and hurt my shins. The other pair was too soft and didn't support my pronation and my knee started to hurt. The other pair was just too tight and tight. The other pair was too wide and soft. Luckily I have a good retailer that accepts a lot of returns, but I'm starting to feel like no matter what I do I can't get a pair that I end up keeping for long. I didn't want to keep going to the store looking for another pair/brand/size/etc to try. premium price. I couldn't be happier. They are quite soft, my calves appreciate the extra cushioning. But true to their stated purpose, they are not soft shoes. It's a stabilizing shoe (I think Asics calls it structured cushioning or something) with a nice gray firm foam called Duomax. My feet are comfortable but don't roll and my knees don't hurt anymore. So don't get me wrong - these shoes aren't for everyone. I'm a moderate overpronator and they are perfect for my physique. YMMV.Plus they came in this grey/gold color and looked cool.
