Review on πŸ’‘ In-Wall Power Distribution Unit: Sanus SA809-B1 Large Box in Black for Efficient and Concealed Power Management by Andrew Dinelli

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good concept, TERRIBLE design!

Many say that Sanus makes great TV mounts and you would think that buying this in wall enclosure/box would be an easy task and you can expect quality from their fasteners. NOT CORRECT! There are several issues with this product: 1) Cutout Pattern: As previously mentioned, the cutout pattern provided is completely wrong. The box has ribs that expand beyond certain template dimensions. You'll need to slightly trim off about 0.5 inch more on each side. Additionally, the tabs that rotate 90 inches and attach the box to the drywall protrude from a specific area. They may also require some additional incisions. 2) Oversized Insert: The cable management insert provided with you for installing small devices/adapters and managing cables is not manufactured to the correct tolerances and therefore will cause the insert to bend slightly inside the case. It's clear it wasn't made to specifications! Mine too was covered in a horrible oily coating from the manufacturing facility that punches tiny square holes in this insert. not good! 3) Useless mount: They provide you with a mount to use their proprietary "ECO-mini" surge protector. A quick search will reveal that Sanus discontinued this product a long time ago. Probably, because they didn't specialize in it and it had terrible reviews. In short: your engineers obviously didn't think it through and didn't do any field installations with it! Do not worry.
