Review on QuietKat Exploring Backcountry Three Way Adjustable by Puggzy Wallin

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice design really bad quality control

When I received the Quietkat tag today I knew it was going to be tough as the box was very dented and falling apart at the seams. after opening, there is not a single piece of packaging inside, so the metal parts don't stick together, no cardboard and foam. It only takes about a minute to assemble the dolly as all you have to do is snap the wheels into place and then attach the side arms to hold the trailer's rear in your desired position, from perfectly horizontal, 45 or 90 degrees. I was able to attach both arms in the 45 degree position but when I tried to attach the arms in 90 degrees I found that the holes drilled in the frame were misaligned and therefore I was unable to fully insert the pin. The quality control is way below what I expected for $350. The Revain has basic carriages in the $180 range and I expected them to be there, but it looks like it was hand-drilled. The edges are uneven and do not properly match the length of the side arms in all positions. I left the cart in the 45 degree position, attached it to my bike lightly enough, and took it out for a test run. I put some padding on it and my eight year old daughter climbed on board and I guided her around, she pulled light enough and she said the ride was comfortable although it wasn't what it was supposed to be. Looking at the design, I can't see how the rear suspension does anything other than add weight, but maybe it helps more than I can tell. Overall I think it's a good design but it arrives so broken and can't use full functionality because the holes don't line up, it's hard to even give 3 stars at the moment. I could probably drill them out fairly easily to align them, but there will be quite a bit of play with the pin so I'll look at my options. before you decide to change or return it.
