Okay, it's actually somewhat magnetic since you can move the compass needle with it. But it will not hold the antenna securely. I tried using it on a rental car and it bounced off the side of the car when I hit 40mph. I later tried it on the roof and back of a Sierra 1500 pickup truck and it tipped over. several times before reaching highway speed. This is an absolute waste of money unless you want to attach it to a filing cabinet. Just don't keep it too close to the vent or it might be blown away ;).
