My cat and I love these scratching posts. They seem very durable and long enough for my cat to sit on and still have a good stretch when scratching. We just put them on the floor. I usually try to test things before I let her use them with (hopefully) cat-sized force, in a way that I can imagine her using, and yes, I don't see any way the thing won't fall off simply by leaning against a wall, any surface, corner, etc. So yeah, it sucks a bit that the company advertises that it can do that, but in a world where cat scratching posts are bloody expensive, these scratching posts for under $12 each allows me to set up a sturdy and well-made cat tree in any room in the house and keep my rugs, even if I just have to put them on the floor (where the aforementioned vulnerable rugs disappear anyway). In fact, they're so relatively cheap that I can just go to a hardware store and try gluing a few to the walls. So as long as they stay cheap, they'll remain my favorite scrapers! However, you have to subtract this star. because he definitely claims you can lean on him, and you definitely can't.
