The HDMI Matrix is essentially a 4 device by 2 display screen cloner with 2 audio outputs (one for each output screen). It has 4 HDMI inputs, 2 HDMI outputs, 2 analog audio outputs and 2 optical audio outputs. The front panel has 8 output LEDs (each indicating which device is outputting to which display), an IR LED for IR input from the remote control, a power LED and 2 buttons. The case is all metal, steel if I'm not mistaken. very durable. I only used 3 displays but that was mainly because I only had 3 devices to display, but the outputs were up to 4K as advertised. I have used 4K Roku, laptop and desktop. I had audio out via optical sound to the soundbar and audio out via HDMI. There were no problems with the operation of this device. With 3 devices and a remote I could easily switch between the inputs and display them on the appropriate screen and if that screen output device had sound and an optical cable was connected to that output the sound played without any noticeable impact on the sound quality as there was was completely digital. The matrix instructions were very handy as the back tells you which switches need to be in which position to activate which functions. So this is a device that takes the instruction manual seriously. DON'T THROW IT AWAY! This is not very user friendly. The basic functionality is fairly simple and straightforward, but there are many different specific settings where you might be wondering why 3D isn't working or why your output isn't 4K. everything is in the manual. However, setting it up with the help of the instruction manual is also easy as the switches are either up or down, 1 or 2. So just select the setting you want, see what the guide says and set it. I see myself using this in my office, not for a dual monitor setup, but more for entertainment purposes - setting up a display for my server and Roku devices, possibly logging in as a third display on my desktop for videos, etc. That did it doesn't help. Unless you had two outputs from your computer to two separate inputs on the matrix, see the two outputs as two separate monitors. So don't think that you can use two monitors, it's a screen cloner - sends a presentation just like a signal to two screens. The only gripe I'd really like to have is the output LEDs. When an LED lights up, the one right next to it lights up a little too. This doesn't change the fact that one shines MUCH brighter than the others, but it seems like a slight oversight. I would even put a small barrier between the LEDs to prevent light leakage. this does not require great expense for the manufacturer and results in a cleaner product. All in all a great product. And for $42, it's a good deal.
