It's really nothing special, so it's perfect.

The thing is really nothing special and that's exactly what I expected when I ordered it. I repair computers and also like to fix old laptops or upgrade cheaper ones with SSDs and RAM. This means I often have to clone a new drive or erase an old one after an upgrade so it can be reused. This requires simple construction and easy replacement. The lid of it slides off with enough effort. If you've ever had a Texas Instruments calculator, think sliding covers, and that's the feel. The 2.5-inch drive slides in easily, but with enough authority that I don't have to worry about unreliable connections. Plug it into your car and you're done. I have an old Linux machine that I use to wipe disks with the shred command. I can load it, plug it in, run some commands and walk away while the disk is being erased and rewritten, and do a sanity check and map these slow drives to a RAID configuration for a reliable backup, cheap repair/replacement Process for a dying drive or just as a cloned backup for a critical computer. Of course, you could use this to carry around an extra drive, but since spindle drives are cheap and not as shockproof as their flash counterparts, I saw value in something that emphasized redundancy, security, flexibility, and compatibility, and I have it Roger that. This product has nothing more or less than exactly what it should be and for me it is the same.

Pros
  • Easy to use - tool-free installation. The internal hard drive can be easily removed in about 3 seconds. Simply slide the lid open, insert the disc and slide the lid up to use. Hot swappable. You can check the working status with the LED indicator.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
