I've been using these for over 20 years and as they only last 7-8 years (10 now) I keep buying them. They work as I had one next to the boat batteries which I was charging in the basement and it died. It turns out that when charging lead-acid batteries, hydrogen gas is released, which also sets off the alarm - learned something new. I bought one of the more expensive LCD displays; waste of money. I never looked at it and was only interested in whether it would work. I have 4 at home.
