Singer has been manufacturing sewing machines and accessories for around 170 years. I am willing to say that any genuine Singer product will meet or exceed most expectations. These high performance needles are no exception. I sew quite a bit of leather and some car upholstery. The padding reminds me of a thin piece of foam sandwiched between nylon carpeting and a plasticized vinyl backing about 3mm thick. So the needles should pierce about 6mm of material when putting these pieces together, which is a brick wall for most, even some other brands of high performance needles, but the Singer brand works through. I can use them for much longer, sometimes for multiple projects, before they get boring.
