You are the perfect size. I boil them in hot water and.

I use them as tampons. You are the perfect size. I boil them in hot water and disinfect them with hydrogen peroxide soap. If you are interested in using sponges as tampons, PLEASE be careful and read the descriptions to ensure this is a real sea sponge and not an artificial version. The fake ones look very real but you don't want to put them on your body. In any case. I have a pretty strong flow and I usually use 2 of these at a time. After cleaning them, rinse them well with water, wring out the excess so it doesn't drip, then try to push it up as high as you can. On normal days, I can only get by with one. Avoid wearing regular tampons on the days after your period when spotting occurs and panty liners are uncomfortable. No matter how little you notice, you can still use one of these. A "light" cotton swab will dry you out if you don't bleed enough. The sponges are already wet so they just soak up the blood instead of drying you out completely. One of the WORST feelings a woman has is taking out a tampon too soon when it's still dry in places. With sponges, you don't have to worry about that. You can probably use them in separate periods for two months in a row, but they're cheap so you can just use the same 1 or 2 for the entire period and then throw them away. A pack of 12 is enough for 6 periods. Or even 12 periods! $11 for 6 months of menses is MUCH cheaper than buying a $5 pack of tampons every month. You won't regret switching to them. Here's the best part. You can use them during sex! I even had 2 in before and my boyfriend barely felt them. They are soft so they don't scratch him. Depending on how intense your flow is, you may not make a mess at all! Yes, they do get pushed up quite a bit from the movement, but physically nothing can get lost in the vagina. When you are comfortable with your body, you can easily insert and pull out your fingers. You can even ask your partner to remove them. If you're having trouble, squat on the floor and push as if you're trying to have a bowel movement. The lips should fall a little. If not, just leave them there and they'll come out later. Sponges can be left on MUCH longer than tampons. I left them on all day so just go to work or school or whatever and eventually they will fall off for easier removal. It's like a plug in the uterus. Tampons still leave blood on your vagina, which can leak onto your panties. The sponge is close to the uterus, making your vaginal canal cleaner. I'm very paranoid about leaks and this is what put me off menstrual cups. Sea sponges absorb everything, so if she slipped, not just a cup of blood would spill out. I rarely encounter leaks with them. Only on really tough days or when I'm physically active at work when I don't have a break to wash it off. Menstrual cups are more difficult to clean in toilet stalls. Simply pull out with a sponge, douse with water until clean, wring out and reinsert. You can use the same sponge for your entire period, but every day or 2 I'll soak it in hydrogen peroxide for a minute, then rinse and reinsert. Hydrogen peroxide is safe for the vagina, so don't worry. I've even used HP before. Bring me to one more piece of advice. If you have a bacterial infection, soak one of these in HP and leave it in your vagina overnight. Also put a pad on as the sponge will get wet.
