too small for many shoes

I'm a woman with medium-sized feet and these shoe bags aren't big enough for some of my shoes. They fit in a pair of flats or flip flops, but if I want to pack sneakers or a pair of heels I have to use a bag or any shoe. Maybe that's what they mean? I figured a pair would fit in a bag. I washed them, but washed them in the cold and air dried them (I had to, they smelled like chemicals). I can't imagine them wrinkling from washing in the cold.
