Made this purchase for our tiny guest house. I wasn't sure I needed recessed windows for them, but I took a chance. You are not! They were really easy to install and I love the stripes they make when lined up to do so. The mesh between the hard areas is great for letting the breeze in. The only thing I would change is that I would order them a little wider than what I did. (I was wrong due to the small size of my measurements, thinking the hardware to mount it would be like mini blinds on the sides, but it's on top) There's a small streak of light coming through the edges, but that is because I ordered a small one.
