Learned the hard way, don't use them to connect external drives directly to the MacBook Pro. A few weeks later, an 8TB external drive got corrupted after switching to these. The Seagate diagnostics don't show the actual problem with the drive, and after Macos erases and reformats the drive it's usable again, but with the original cable that came with it and the USB to Thunderbolt adapter that I used previously . I'm not sure if the problem is on the Mac side or with this cable, but in fact the cable is so short and stiff that it puts a strain on the drive's Micro B 3.0 connector.
