I bought this mat because my cat's original mesh toilet mat was very difficult to clean. Even washing the mesh mat with water, it still seemed like dirt was still stuck in the mat. So. This rug definitely solves that problem, it's so easy to give a deep clean with a mop and a turbo brush. Also, the design of this rug looks much better than most commercial mesh rugs. My cat also loves lying on the mat! The catch, however, is that the carpet is expensive and short-lived. I had to throw mine out after 2 months because there was too much dirt and cat tears on the scratched areas. The rug was already showing clear signs of wear after just a few weeks from just being walked on by my cat (he doesn't scratch as he only uses a scratching post and his claws are trimmed regularly). Also, this toilet mat seems to use a material that absorbs liquid (I noticed that after washing). This makes it not as easy to clean as I thought. So if you like cleaning your toilet mat with water, non-porous silicone might be your best bet.
