Review on Dorman 265-818 Transmission Oil Pan: Ideal Fit for Specific Models by Jason Unruh

Thick and heavy, best pan for 42RLE

This pan is an improvement over the standard pan. It is thicker and heavier, and the flange area is strong. The bearing shell has been overstretched and deformed around the bolt holes. Also, it was rusty. The Dorman pan is definitely an improvement. I've used it with a lube lock gasket and so far so good. There was no protruding indentation for the magnet (mine was shaped like a big O). I think I could use a smaller magnet to fit in the recess where the bulge was on my OEM pan. Okay, I have no plans to remove the palette anytime soon. Small problem - the plug is leaking. The copper disc sucks. I tightened it but it still leaks. You have to change the puck. Update 06/30/2020: Replaced the washer on the drain plug. No leaks. The pan is also dry. I just installed a temperature sensor in the drain plug hole with a threaded adapter. I recommend anyone who has a 42RLE to buy this pan. It also holds a liter of liquid. And only use ATF+4.
