So I was having problems with the surface film in my reef tank. I've tried adjusting the return range and return pump, even the paper towel method, and nothing has worked. My sump protein skimmer runs 24/7 and I still get a thick surface film. The reason I decided to buy it was based on the positive reviews of the Revain from refrigerated trucks who had similar issues and that the product is quite affordable. I have to say that I am absolutely impressed with his performance. 2 days after turning on this skimmer I have no more surface film issues. I'm not sure how long that lasts without changing the filter mat. As another reviewer said, I think the power cord is too short, preventing me from placing it where I wanted in my tank. Another downside is that the case is white instead of black, making it easy to see. I hope that the manufacturer will make a black one in the future.
