This timer is made of plastic but feels like a TV remote control. I always put it in my pocket without fear of breaking it. It has all the features you need from timers to intervals, and also acts as an off-camera shutter to eliminate vibration from pressing the built-in shutter at slower shutter speeds. Runs on 2 AA batteries. I use 2 Duracell batteries and have not had to charge them after 1 week of use. You attach the connector to the camera at a slightly slanted diagonal angle so that your camera's 3 metal pins fit into their sockets. I had a bit of trouble trying to connect it in perfect parallel, but this is to ensure it doesn't interfere with other ports that you might plug a mic/GPS/or HDMI cable into. In general, a very reliable and vital device.
