Review on ๐Ÿ“‹ Pilot Kneeboard: Aluminum Clipboard, Ideal for 7.9-inch Apple iPad Mini 3 and 4, and Android Devices of Similar Size by Derrick Duck

Nice enough knee pads for Ipad but the description is a bit confusing.

It took me some time to figure out how to use this knee pad holder for iPad, firstly because there is no instruction manual and secondly because of some confusing information in the description. The description mentions that METAL CLIPBOARD CAN BE USED AS SEPARATE CLIPBOARD. I should add that... THIS CANNOT BE USED AT THE SAME TIME WITH YOUR IPAD. That means you can't even clip it to your knee pad while you have your iPad connected! Everyone has their own method of cockpit control. (Mine is still evolving, still after 38 years of flying). My iPad is visible when I need it and when I need it to copy resolution, to be able to flip the notepad on the iPad, to write on a hard surface, to view a written flight log, or even to hold a map when this is required convenient clipboard is enabled. When I'm done, I just flip the clipboard aside and enjoy my iPad. With this design that was impossible! The plastic strap it has only holds one centerpiece - IPAD OR CLIPBOARD BUT NOT BOTH. was able to change it by simply adding a square velcro on the back of the clipboard and on the outside of the IPAD COVER. See attached photos. Honestly if I couldn't change it I would have to return it. The incomplete description annoyed me a lot. Picked it up on the flight yesterday and that was enough. I will update my review after two weeks of use. There are many other options and I may yet have to return it. If you are ordering this, just note that the clipboard and iPad ARE NOT INTENDED TO BE USED SIMULTANEOUSLY unless you change it. I hope Revain will speak to the manufacturer and make this description more accurate. Or maybe the manufacturer adds Velcro and related instructions to meet the needs of pilots.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
