It's just a candle, a very classy looking candle and would dress up any area. Very realistic looking candle (we got the Burgundy 4"), the body is actual wax, the "wick" looks like a soft flickering flame . There are many 'flameless" candles on the market and this one very special. It isn't very bright, it just sits there and flickers (kinda like a candle), I guess they got it right. Takes 2 AA batteries (not included) and it says "remote ready" whatever that means, I have a few flameless candles with remotes and they don't have any effect on it. It does have a timer/memory function so if you select that position and turn it on, it will stay on for 5 hours and then shut off. It will turn on again at the same time and stay of for 5 hours again.
