Okay, this is getting pretty detailed now, but I wanted to be thorough as I work in a surgeon's office. I work in a clinic and do ultrasounds. Our stocks are limited, which means you may end up wearing the same mask over and over for several days. I decided to buy them so I can wear a new mask every day. I compared it directly with the "medical surgical mask" (light blue) shown on the right. How they are similar: 1. Both are made in China (yes, the one you get at the doctor's office is probably made in China. Sorry for the disappointment)2. Both 3 layers 3. Same ear tips4. Same Thickness Differences: 1. The surgical mask is a little softer (but they are still soft)2. The nose piece fits better on the surgical mask but still fits quite well the way I use it (see pic 3)3. They have not been pre-approved by the FDA, which is the only reason they cannot be labeled as medical masks, just like surgical masks. In a direct comparison it is practically the same mask and I am very satisfied with the purchase. I had to throw one away because the nose was in the wrong place but that's okay, just check before use. We should do the same with "official" medical supplies. If you're wondering why my mask looks like this, it's because I fold the mask in half (horizontally), tie each earloop tightly to the corners of the mask, and then push the corners of the mask inward (if you do this step skip, the edges/corners of the mask will blow away from your face) , you want the edges of the mask to be flush against your face). Once the ear loops are on the ears (or buttons in my case), pull the bottom piece under the chin and the top piece over the nose, then shape the nose piece for the best fit. (I'm sure there's a YouTube video somewhere, I got the idea from a medical Facebook page.) When you do this, it conforms more closely to your face and pulls the edges away from your lower eyelids. I have a problem with masks getting in my eyes and the bonus is they fog up less when I'm wearing glasses! My ears aren't used to wearing a mask all day either, so I just sewed some buttons onto the headband and attached ear loops to the buttons instead. Which my ears thanked me for after a month of torture as my ears wouldn't get used to it. I hope this will be of help to those looking for a good quality, inexpensive mask. :) Also the delivery was fast, when I ordered I received it within a week.
