Robust, high quality inverter, amazing price!

Full Details: This product was given to me free of charge in exchange for an honest review. This review is written in my own words and no one has seen or approved this review before posting it. I've owned a variety of inverters over the years, from a tiny 50 watt to a whopping 3000 watt. The Voltcube's size is my favorite because it's big enough for most jobs without being so bulky and heavy that it gets in the way. The processing quality of the Voltcube is excellent. And it's sizeable, about 1 lb 4 oz. It feels very good in the hand and the aluminum body (mine is red) looks great. Switches and sockets are very high quality and seem to last a long time. It's also nice to have USB ports on the front, and not just flimsy ones: 2.4 amps each, which will charge pretty much anything you can plug in, from phones to tablets. I've also used it to power a GoPro camera and it works like a champ. The fan is VERY quiet. I switched everything to LED lighting so I don't have huge 300 watt bulbs to see how loud the fan will be under load. But when you plug it in and turn it on, it's quiet, so I'm sure it won't be uncomfortable at higher loads, although I haven't tested that. It comes with a cigarette lighter socket and two battery clips. Battery terminals are designed that they can be connected directly to the battery if you know that you will use the Voltcube with the higher powers it is capable of. Anything over 150 watts, you should use battery clamps. The clamps are plastic but very strong. The springs are taut, there is no "play" when opening the clamp, as with other cheap competitors. It's easy to grab the clip to open it. They are comfortable to the touch, durable and hold firmly to the battery terminals. The battery terminal cables are only about 30 cm long. So if you want to mount them on the battery and use the inverter in the car, you'll need to run longer, larger cables. Be sure to extend battery cables - the longer they are, the larger they should be. Nonetheless, To use power tools from your truck, a foot length should not be a barrier to you. I wish the cigarette lighter plug was a little more substantial. It's the only thing in the box that seems cheap. I've had situations in the past where I've accidentally stepped on these plugs and broken them, so I have to be extra careful with this one. The back of the device is where you connect your cables, whether you're using the battery clips or the cigarette lighter plug. Simply remove the caps from the terminal blocks, slide the terminals, replace the screws and tighten. Takes 10 seconds and is very easy to do. This provides a strong and secure connection to the Voltcube and is an excellent method of attachment. The Voltcube even comes with two extra 25 amp fuses. You'll have to open the case to swap them out (looks easy, four Phillips screws) but it's nice that they're included. The packaging was all cardboard, which I really appreciate. No flip flops or plastic. Cardboard boxes only. I wish more manufacturers would do this. It's much better for the environment. The device comes with an instruction manual, where you'll find all the usual tips and tricks, as well as a few troubleshooting tips if you run into problems. It's well-written English, which is always nice. The Voltcube is pretty much ready to go, so if you're one of those guys or gals, who say "I don't need a stupid guide", you will be fine. Nice to have a guide if you need one. The only thing I would like to make it so, someone mentioned this: a small bag to carry everything in. I see parts getting lost if you're not careful to keep everything together. But a gallon-sized Ziploc bag would do. It would be nice if something came with it, but at this price it's certainly not a problem. Bottom line, if you're looking for a durable, well-built way to get 400 watts of AC power into your car or boat, the Voltcube is the perfect choice. . It's small, quiet and looks like it will last for years.TL; DR: A great inverter for the price, you can't go wrong with the Voltcube. d a few things with you, But at this price, that's definitely not a problem.
