Every roll in this pack so far (ie the first three I've tried) has had a cut through the first few layers. Looks like a manufacturing defect. If you want a long ribbon, you need to go through the first few layers. I don't use it for drawing, so I can't comment on its effectiveness. I cut glass liquor bottles and use this tape to mark the cutting line. It's great for this application - stays in place even under running water.
