Review on ๐Ÿ“ท Hohem iSteady Pro 3: 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer for Action Cameras, Extended 12-Hour Battery Life & Action Camera Control by Johnny Weber

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best value no splash guard

I also had a Karma gimbal but I returned it as it was too faulty and iSteady was better suited to my use. I mainly use this gimbal to record bouldering with a GoPro. I mount a stabilizer on the end of a large monopod to allow the camera to elevate about 20 feet in the air. The gimbal keeps the camera steady and level. This means I need the 1/4 20 lip on the bottom of the grip that this gimbal has as opposed to the Karma gimbal. Unlike the Karma Stabilizer, this stabilizer can also stand alone. The app is decent too, but I rarely use it. Battery life is excellent compared to Karma. but once you get used to it, it's not bad. I broke it. He doesn't like salt water (duh). I hung it over the side of the boat on the end of the monopod. There was a decent splash and the pitch axis died. I could feel heat from the axle cover and crank. I didn't see any smoke then. When I got it home I removed the cover on the side and pulled out the axis control board. You can see the damage to the board and the remains of some components after the magic smoke was released (apparently I just didn't see the smoke at the time). So I broke it. my fault I can still highly recommend this stabilizer. If you can keep it dry, for $99 this is an amazing stabilizer. If you can't keep it dry you might want a $200 stabilizer.
