Review on BIQU B1 Removable Motherboard Certificate by Matt Conner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A good printer failed due to a bad power switch and non-existent customer service.

In general, I like the printer. I have the pink version. This is my second purchase of a 3D printer. My first was the Basis-Ender 3, which I've been using since I've had it. That's a small step forward. Many of the improvements and modifications I made to Ender 3 have already been made to this one. However, there are some problems. Judging from those first, it's noise. The fan noise from this thing is terrible. I'd be happy to pay a few euros more for quieter fans. I have no idea why manufacturers insist on putting trash fans on their products. I couldn't be in the same room with this thing while it was running. The biggest culprit is the fan on the power supply, but the rest is only moderately quiet. I fixed it by buying Noctua fans and swapping them everywhere. Now the loudest fan coos at the hot end. You can live in it, but I'll eventually replace it and the fan part. Worst of all, the power button broke less than a week later. The printer just wouldn't turn on. The built in fuse was ok, the cheap power supply was ok, it was cheap junk that failed. in less than a week. I went ahead and replaced it without contacting the manufacturer because I'm still waiting for their reply about the defective motherboard I received for Ender 3 and it's been weeks. Remember that they don't really react when something is wrong. However, the print quality when delivered is quite good. The general build quality is good (I really like the pink accents). But be aware. Customer support is almost non-existent. If you don't want to troubleshoot problems yourself, this printer might not be for you.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No productivity
