Review on πŸ“‘ Uniden DFR9: Super Long Range Laser and Radar Detection with GPS for Red Light and Speed Camera Alerts – Enhanced OLED Display by Phil Casey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's the one!

This is the first radar detector I have bought in the last 10 years. The previous one I had was a Cobra and it was rubbish. So this time I did some research and found this device to be the best in its price range (unless you want to shell out another $100 for the Uniden R3, which has a longer range). I went with the included suction cup and the power cord has a built in mute button. I would have preferred it installed and hardwired to my rearview mirror, but for now I can live with the cable because it plugs in on the passenger side. It's very easy to set up and the image on the screen is crystal clear. You can customize everything from distance detection sensitivity to speed alerts, color display, volume and brightness. It comes with a very nice hard case, power cord and USB cable to connect to your computer for updates. I went with a black block instead of a silver because some reviews said the silver bounces off the windshield. The suction cup is firm and the device doesn't wobble, but its light weight doesn't feel cheap. Overall I'm very happy with it. There are no false alarms, there is a voice warning via traffic light cameras, as well as all ranges, it does not beep endlessly and does not distract while driving. It's not a $500 escort, but it works the same way.
