Review on MEAN WELL PWM 90 24 Constant Voltage by Jesus Baker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The highest dimming frequency of PWM LEDs! Stable.

This power supply is GREAT for powering my 24V Heated Dimmable CV LED Strips. Ribbons require high frequency PWM to properly dim them along their flicker-free warm-dim curve (requires at least 1.5 kHz PWM, which this power supply offers. Highest published PWM output frequency found in any power supply still on the market have). I have 6 LED circuits that are individually dimmable with Lutron 0-10V wireless dimmers that control the PWM dimming output of a MeanWell power supply. The only thing I would like is that the power supplies use a LOGarithmic dimming curve instead of LINEAR to control the 0-10V dimming. However, MeanWell has hysteresis in the circuit, so they don't fully dim below the equivalent dimming control input by about 1 volt. The heat generation isn't bad, but the 90W power supplies get hot (but don't burn), especially when the LED strip is running under full load, max 83W. The only issue I've noticed so far is that at least one of the circuitry makes an audible "hum", it's hard to tell if it's the 1.5kHz PWM frequency or not. I accidentally ran this circuit with no load for a while before connecting the LED load (no, no), so it's hard to tell if I'm making this noise or if the power supply is just noisy. In any case, the closet that houses the consumables muffles the noise, so I'm not overly concerned as long as it doesn't get louder.

Pros
  • Input Frequency (Hz): 47 to 63
Cons
  • Attenuation
