We bought them as school shoes for my son. About 2 weeks after school he came home and told me he had a big gap. It was at least 4 inches long. They have not been abused, just worn normally. However, they gave us a full refund with no problems! I bought the same shoes in a different color for another son and they seem to be holding up well so maybe it's just a coincidence. I don't know
