My eldest daughter (middle school age) loves birds very much and this is the perfect birthday present for her. It would also be nice for a younger child or small adult, but the pendant may be too small to suit many adults' preferences. I would however like to have something more for myself - a mother daughter set would make a great gift. It is ideal for children and teenagers. I think it's not real silver but stainless steel. It's definitely not cheap nickel painting leather in fun colors. Great balance of quality and affordability. The chain is good but could be better. The build quality of the charm itself is excellent. I had no problems with the standard closure. It came in a small retail packaging in a cute gift box, just peel off the plastic and it's ready to use. I received a discount on this product in exchange for an honest review.
