Excellent macro lens - camera and photo

This macro lens is generally very good value for money. If you don't need autofocus on a macro lens, which most people don't really need, then this is a great way to save money on macro-capable glass. The front element is very small and the way the middle of the barrel pops out looks pretty odd, but the focus ring is very smooth and comfortable for macro photography, and the optics aren't bad. The front element is half the diameter of the outer tube, the built-in aperture protrudes quite a bit from the front element, and the rear element sits quite low in the lens barrel, away from the sensor, so I don't really understand why the lens has to be relative be big and heavy, but there's really no arguing about the performance of the lens, especially for the price.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
