We recently purchased 10 acres of woods with a 400 foot dirt road that we walk twice a day. We also like to go out, summer/winter, rain/shine. Entrance directly from the terrace to the house, there is no place to put shoes except outside. I knew I needed something to store muddy, wet, muddy, snowy shoes and boots, so extra cleaning of the entrances wasn't on my plan! Although these trays appear a little light, they held up to everything we laid out. We shared 6 trays - one set is in front of the "front door" from which the husband and large dogs come out several times a day. The dogs stepped on it, my husband dropped his big, heavy hiking boots on it, and they didn't even crack. My kit is on the back door and since the legs are smaller I can use them horizontally and 1 pair will fit. Walking shoes and 2 pairs of walking shoes on 2 trays.
