Review on 🔌 Iota DLS-45/IQ4 - Smart Battery Charger/Power Supply, 12V 45 Amp, 4-Stage Automatic by George Robinson

I'm not a battery expert. I'm a camper on wheels who wanted to quickly charge a pair of T-105 lead-acid batteries (in series). The IOTA DLS-45/IQ4 doesn't tell you exactly what it's doing, it just does it. You can buy a model without the IQ4 Smart Charger, but if you can't control your battery during charging and know exactly what you want, you may not want to switch terminals on the voltage control key to control charging. There's a blinking LED on the IQ4 that can help you determine the charge level, but that's all there is. IOTA mentions cable size and length. It is very important. At full charging current, the voltage difference between the charger and the battery should be as small as possible. A difference of a few tenths of a volt reduces charging efficiency (increases time). I used #2 AWG 18" copper. I measured the voltage and current in the battery. At 70% discharge, my batteries were drained by 67 amp hours. The DLS-45 charges at 45 amps. It boosts the voltage to 14.8 volts to maintain max charge current At 80% it drops to 14.2 volts and what they call absorption mode On my battery this started at around 30 amps and dropped fairly steadily over the next hour taking it leveled off at around 8 amps. That's almost 90% of the charge. At this point I turned off the generator as it can take a few more hours to get the last 10%. The IQ4 also runs on AGM batteries. DLS is available in models from 15 to 90 amps. I leave the DLS charging leads connected to the battery. When the unit is not connected to mains power, the battery draws little to no current. I give DLS 4 stars because a lot of what it does, is not intuitive and they ask you to believe what it does. This is NOT eco-friendly. He doesn't like rain, dust or the summer sun scorching him.
