Balanced connections are an audiophile fad now, but the jury's out on whether they offer any advantage over unbalanced RCA connections. With an AQ Red River 1.5m XLR between my preamp and amp, I find the sound more transparent with less distortion, which is an improvement over the 2m AQ Diamondback RCA cables I've been using. The symmetrical connections also increased the gain slightly. But does this XLR sound better than the cheaper one? Probably not, but well done.
