BenefitsI'm shocked! We have been a K&N filter customer for 20 years. They are cool. I just installed it in my 2017 Toyota Tundra. Immediately I drove it 11 miles. At a speed of around 60 km/h. I was shocked to see the immediate increase in gas mileage. Averages 12.3 to an average of 16.0 mpg after 22 miles in mixed traffic and on the freeway. Even some initial 18mpg averages are shown in the pictures. I can't believe it, it's like a real Toyota (Denso) filter is taking enough air from the engine. It almost seems too godlike to be true. Disadvantages: The outer box is saturated with oil. The oil seal was broken. The filter is ok except I noticed that the edges of the filters look a bit crumpled, this could be the reason why the filter produces a high pitched whistle at certain acceleration points. The whistling noise is a bit annoying. I'll call K&N to see what they have to say and hope for informed customer service. I will update my experience. Called K&N and the customer service rep was very nice and knowledgeable. She stated that the noise was normal and was the result of a thinner K&N filter that attenuated the noise in the case. To be honest, the Trunda really isn't well insulated, and any outside noise is pretty audible in the cabin anyway. I had a Mercedes and it was so well insulated on the outside. I didn't even hear the turbines. So if you want to increase gas mileage and don't mind a little whistle. Take one of these filters.
