Review on πŸ”’ Arai VAS-V Pro Shade System: The Ultimate Faceshield for Street Motorcycle Helmets - Tinted, One Size Fits All by George Utley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Accessory must be!

I like my Arai (Signet X) helmet but I don't like that they don't offer a photochromic screen for it. Having received this shield and driven it several thousand miles, I do not pass up the opportunity. The biggest benefit for me is that when the sun is overhead or I'm walking in the shade, I can lift the screen (easily with one hand) for a perfectly clear, unshaded view. It works like the top of the adventure helmets. Protects the eyes but does not change the color of your surroundings. It looks good overall, but the brow vents feel a little less positive in action than the stock vents. However, deducting a star from the survey is not enough. Another unexpected benefit was that I got a LARGE bug in the face shield at the start of the ride which obscured the view. I lifted the curtain to uncover it at the nearest gas station. I know other manufacturers' internal drop down visors are handy, but I don't like the safety tradeoff of having to remove the styrofoam to make room for it. So the shield makes the expensive lid even more expensive, but it's worth it. My first Arai helmet but not the last (hope this shield will work with future models).
