I was very impressed with the build quality of the case, easy to install with all the tools and screws provided. I installed a Samsung M.2 NVMe 970 EVO 1TB SSD, formatted it with exFAT on my Mac and ran a speed test with a Blackmagic Speedtest drive. instrument and it showed 950 up and down - I was happy! Today I decided to transfer some ISO images with a total size of about 40GB with my Windows 7 laptop via USB3, left it (estimated time 24 minutes) but when I came back after 20 minutes it gave an error the screen but the disk was missing in windows explorer. I went to take it out and almost burned myself - it was SO HOT! I couldn't hold it in my hands for a second! I was afraid it would damage my SSD! It got cold after a while, so I decided to test it on my Mac. Drive did not show up when connected via USB3 cable. I showed up after switching back to USB-C. So I ran the Blackmagic Disk Speedtest again, this time running it continuously for several minutes while holding the disk. it started to get hot very quickly! After just a few minutes, I broke down, stopped the speed test, and pulled out the drive. I won't be playing with this case anymore as I'm afraid it will damage my 1TB SSD. send back to amazon. Bottom line, this case is very cool, very small and portable, and I really really liked it. However, there seems to be a lot of design flow and due to this issue with HEAT, this case is NOT meant for permanent use. Unless you save small files and turn it off immediately.
