Comfortable children's shoes, corresponds to size

Bought this show for my 5 year old, shoe size was what she normally wears which was good; I noticed that the show is almost unrecognizable after the 1st use. I understand she's a kid and she needs to be broken in, but paying $20 for shoes and seeing all sorts of scuffs and dirt on them after wearing them once is ridiculous. She loves the shoes and red is her favorite color
