Installed last night and it really works. This was my first time installing something like this and while I wouldn't say it was simple or easy to install, it was definitely doable - it takes a lot of patience. The instructions that came with the unit are a bit odd, but I would search YouTube for "install bmw mmi prime" and follow those instructions (it's the exact same box). Definitely, definitely, definitely buy an upholstery removal kit. Some of the cables were stubborn and didn't come off easily as some YouTube videos show. It's also worth noting that there were fiber optic cables in my head unit's wiring harness which I had to move into the special wiring harness that came with this unit - tricky but not difficult. If you have a Harman/Kardon in your car, be aware that the main unit is larger than what you see in most videos. I could still fit everything but all I know is that there won't be enough space. So far the system has worked flawlessly, I am very satisfied. I have a 2016 M235i xDrive with Tech (8.8" screen).
