Firstly, I don't use it for flakes, I use it for cat food with a spoon in it. Since I measure cat food with a handled measuring cup, I needed something with a large flip-top opening that I could put my hand through and scoop out a scoop of food. All other muesli containers have an opening that is too small because they are intended as a dispenser for shaking out. It's the only product with a molded handle area for removal and storage, a hinged lid so I don't have to lock and unlock the entire lid every time I feed, and a large opening. My 8 year old fell from a low height and was trapped. The rubber seal seems to keep the food fresh. The flip top lid is very easy to open and close, even my 4 year old can do it. I wouldn't want to use it as a cereal dispenser because the opening is too wide to control the pour. As a cereal container, the main advantage of this container over other cereal containers is that it's large enough to hold a large bag of cereal, like Costco's. I use Sistema klip it cereal containers for my cereal and they are amazing.
