
3fev22l I decided to try it on my desktop first, mainly to see what happens. Nothing has happened. None of the HDMI ports leaked video. It was then that I began to better understand the subtle differences between the different types of USB connectors. It looks like there are no USB-C ports on my desktop capable of transferring video. So I turned my attention to my ThinkPad. The ThinkPad only has one USB-C port, but supports video. So I started connecting a 4K monitor to two displays (including the built-in display). It worked like a charm. Always pushing my luck, I decided to see how many 4K displays this thing could power. which also led to questions about how* all this is possible. After all, I had a total of 3 4K displays plus an internal display connected to my poor little ThinkPad. 3 of them (built-in and 2 4K) lit well. The latest 4K monitor was detected and was visible in the Windows display properties. But it was much smaller than the others and couldn't display images. Considering my ThinkPad only has an Intel SOC video chipset, it's pretty damn impressive that it can drive so many displays. I bet if I had an updated version with a discrete Nvidia GPU I could set all 4 monitors on fire.
