I bought this gate to fence off a small corner in our living room to keep our 1 year old from getting into our electronics. I have had a Regalo baby gate in the past so I figured it was a safe bet as I have always been happy with their products. The opening measures exactly 74 inches, so this gate seemed perfect. After packing and assembling the gate I was immediately disappointed as the quality of this gate did not match the quality of other Regalo products I have used but it still seemed strong enough. Assembly took 5 minutes for one person. I then found that the gate was about an inch shorter for our 74" opening. Strike number two. We fixed this by buying some small pieces of wood from the craft department at Wal-Mart to use as spacers on each hinge. This is also why we used 2" wood screws instead of the ones that came with the gate. With these modifications, it is easy and quick to install. Now that the gate is in place it looks pretty solid. It bends a little in the middle, but that's to be expected when it's going a long distance. The gate itself is only attached to a latch at the top and slides out easily, so I installed a locking mechanism at the bottom so the gate only opens inwards and cannot be pushed out by small hands. So far, despite my concerns, it has held up well and serves the purpose for which it was purchased. Am I satisfied with this purchase? Generally yes. Would I buy again? Probably no.
