Let me start by saying that this is a great food for any adult pet turtle. My red-eared slider has been with me for about 9 years and while she is not fussy and will usually eat anything her age appropriate, I prefer to feed her good quality turtle food. Most other commercial cheaper turtle foods start with fishmeal as the first ingredient, and some others even use soybean or wheat flour as the first ingredient as the base for pellets. Omega One uses whole salmon, herring and cod, with whole salmon being the first ingredient, which says a lot about the quality of the feed. These kibbles are salmon colored and have a slightly stinky fresh smell compared to the relatively mild smells of other products, which may indicate they were again made with higher quality ingredients. The pellets are very small, about the size of a bite, making them larger than the bite size for an adult turtle. I also supplement his diet with dried cranberries, dried shrimp and mealworms for a more balanced and nutritious diet. Normally I would buy this food again for my red-eared turtle.
