The lens works well and may be better than separate blurs in the long run/cost. I conduct rigorous testing on all of my photography gear. It was a job and now a hobby; I use Edmund Scientific resolution tests, color accuracy, saturation devices, etc. Anyhow, that's what I found about this lens attached to a Sony a7rIII at maximum quality and resolution. f/16 to f/8 work very well. good with some blur (intentional) and good depth of field (expected). Those three stops work the same, but f/11 is actually sharper with lens color distortion. I will use f/11 for the depth image. From f/5.6 to f/1.6 there is the expected progressive softness. F/2.0 and f/1.6 are very soft and slightly darker than f/4.0 and f/2.8. I avoid f/4.0 as the overall quality suffers a bit. I like f/2.8 for its perceived softness, color rendering and light transmission. Please remember this was tested on a Sony a7riii, other cameras may vary. Can I recommend this lens: YES
