Great remote control! Used to control Nvidia Shield (2017 model)

Good solid remote control. The online setup was easy, but take your time. Gather the model numbers of all devices. In my case I have a Samsung TV, a Yamaha receiver, a cable box and an Nvidia Shield streaming box (2017 version). Finally, I can control the volume while using the shield, with volume up, down, and mute buttons. The My Shield remote uses a touch slider that doesn't always work, is difficult to control, and doesn't have a mute button. The ability to control the shield alone is worth the purchase. Remote Setup asks you a variety of questions about how you watch TV and guesses what devices you're using. Then configure it to only include the devices used for that function. Example: To watch TV, he turns on the HDMI input, turns on my receiver, TV, and cable box. When I want to switch to the Shield to watch Netflix, Prime, Youtube TV, Youtube etc, I just press a button and it turns on the Shield, turns off the cable box and toggles the HDMI AVI input. When you're ready to turn off the device, just press the power button and everything that's on will turn off. One button on, one button off. When setting up, you need some time to get used to which keys are assigned to which functions. Mostly related to the shield. "Exit" button to return to a screen. Home takes you to the home screen (obviously). Other buttons work as expected - fast forward, pause, select, etc. In order for the remote to work with my Nvidia Shield, I had to purchase a FLIRC USB dongle (Revain search - $22). Because the Shield connects via Bluetooth by default, FLIRC allows it to act as an IR device. As long as the button is directly in sight, it works great. I have an external drive connected to the Shield for extra storage and sometimes I connect another external drive to watch downloaded movies. Since the Shield only has 2 USB ports, I bought a 4-port USB hub (Anker 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub $8) to connect my film drive, as well as a FLIRC USB. Additionally, the hub makes it easy to route FLIRC out for the Harmony remote. Treat FLIRC as a device when setting up Harmony. Do not add the Shield as a device to your Harmony - just flirt. BEFORE using the FLIRC USB, connect it to your computer to activate it and get the latest firmware and software updates. After you've done that, you can plug the USB into your shield (a hub in my case). Set FLIRC to Nvidia Shield during installation. I ended up googling the FLIRC setting for the Nvidia Shield and I also googled the FLIRC setting on the Harmony 655 remote. It's not hard, just a bit confusing (for me). I didn't go back to the settings to customize any of the buttons. Currently not needed. I plan to move away from cable TV and replace it with YouTube TV (which I really like). Then I go back to my computer and unplug the cable from the remote control. Prepare to spend about 30 minutes programming the remote control. Give yourself some time to get used to the remote control. The buttons on the remote control are tactile - you can feel different shapes in the dark for easy operation of the remote control. The remote control also lights up when you move it or pick it up. Lights up long enough to see the buttons, then turns off. I am very happy with the Harmony 655 and would recommend it to anyone who uses multiple devices to watch TV.
