Really a lifesaver! My German Shepherd/Rottweiler has severe separation anxiety and keeps barking when I leave the house. I tried every method to prepare her for when I had to leave, but nothing worked. Every time I left the house she barked and defecated non-stop in her cage. She is 2 by the way. I checked reviews and saw similar circumstances and this collar seemed to work. I followed all the simple step by step instructions and charged the battery before putting the collar on. I tested it on Georgia and looked like I was going to see if it really works. 5 minutes after I left her line of sight she started barking and the collar came off. It issues a warning and then delivers a shock. Georgia immediately stopped barking and no longer barks in a collar. TOP. Make sure you read all instructions and make sure the collar fits snugly around the windpipe. I've seen reviews stating the collar doesn't work so make sure you read the reviews, test the collar and put it on your dog correctly in situations that make sense. Obviously this doesn't work in the presence of other dogs as it picks up the sound. I only use it when I leave the house as I don't want to teach her to never bark, just not to bark excessively. BE CAREFUL. The whining won't go away. My dog still whimpers and cries but he does it at night when I put him to bed so it doesn't matter. This collar is only effective for LAE and that's why I need it. Now the strangest thing is, my dog is not afraid of the collar. She sits patiently while getting dressed and does not run away from fear. I never set the setting above 3. It's always worked on 3, so I've never felt the need to test higher hit levels (goes up to 5). I think weight is a factor too, Georgia is 125 pounds so level 3 is right for her. This collar saves my life because I started going crazy because I couldn't go without it and always took it with me. She no longer poops in her cage with her collar on because of separation anxiety. I used it consistently for a couple of days on a single charge, so the battery life is pretty decent in my opinion. I've also never left my dog alone for more than 4 hours, so that can play a tricky role in battery life. All in all, if you have a rescuer who suffers from severe separation anxiety and you are against treating your dog, with the right training and this collar you will not regret your purchase!
