Review on πŸ₯’ Efficient Farberware Handheld Mandoline Slicer for Fruits and Vegetables, Green by Roy Cook

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So useful in cooking, in soups and stir-fries. This is more fun than cutting.

I like this article very much. This is my first mandolin and it's fairly easy for a beginner to get the hang of it. I actually didn't read any real instructions and everything worked fine. To be honest I found it fun and found myself looking for more things to hack. The only thing that made me hesitate before buying a mandolin was safety. I love that there is a very large plastic piece with metal tongs to safely grind the slices so your fingers never come close to the blade. There are many settings in different size fractions, so you can choose whether you want your slices to be very thin or thick. etc. I've been able to chop up Mirapua to keep in the fridge as a snack, as well as very thinly sliced cucumber and carrots to soak in sauces for some of the Korean dishes I plan to make. I was also able to cut some very thin zucchini slices which worked great in quesadillas and I can't wait to make the same thin zucchini in some egg dishes like quiche. It was pretty easy just spending about 30 minutes on a Sunday. Chop approx. 4 different vegetables and put them in containers as a "meal prep" for a week. Then dinner, soup or whatever just needs to be thrown in and got to cooking, saving a lot of hesitation in preparing fresh groceries during the school/work week when you're short on time since you don't have to chop to cook. I think this is a complete game changer for me when it comes to food prep and I can already say I will be using this thing many times. I like that it's dishwasher safe as I'm a lazy person who likes to throw everything in the dishwasher rather than hand washing things. I'm growing zucchini, cucumbers and a few other things in the beginner's garden this year and I think it will help a lot to work up the food and save or with something extra. I also like making Julianne's tweaks for some salads, but overall I think I just prefer the larger slices most of the time. I would say this is a good deal for the price. All in all I recommend it.
