Review on Anbull 12V 4500lb Electric Winch with Synthetic Rope, Mounting Bracket, and Wireless Remote Control - Ideal for Towing ATV/UTV by Chad Chavez

Insanely complex wiring with no decent instructions!

I used to have 2 Warn winches and 2 Badlands winches. 9000-pound Warns worked well on the front of 3/4-ton Suburbans a few decades ago; My recent purchases of a 2,500 pound Badlands winch were a disaster: each of them quickly and easily wrapped wire rope around the winch axles outside of the drums. So I turned to looking for a synthetic winch and settled on the Anbull 4,500 lb model. Pros: Anbull winds and unwinds in good condition with no miswind issues. It's pretty quiet and definitely powerful. So-so: Its extremely high gear ratio makes it extremely slow, even with about 1,500 pounds of boost up a fairly modest incline. It would be great if lower translation and faster retrieval could be offered. THE BAD: The awful amount of wiring and the two boxes that came with it kept two experienced handymen (a neighbor friend and I) from getting it right with just a wireless remote. The instructions did not help! And I couldn't find any help online either. So I turned to a very simple, fully self-contained solenoid control box I had left over from one of my Badlands purchases and hooked it up to an Anbull winch. Then, with the help of the Badlands wireless remote, the winch worked perfectly! See my attached photos for a comparison of Anbull's wiring maze (including a small box of very thin 4-wire wiring that Anbull's manual completely ignores) and the sleek Badlands solenoid setup I created. To deal with Anbull's tangled cables, I would have already loaned it to Revain. The easier connection of the Badlands magnet box solved my problems and the winch is the keeper. Anbull, you really need to simplify your cable connections and make sure your instructions apply to the winches you sell.
