A turning point for experienced mechanics - do it yourself!

Great tool! Before purchasing XTool D8, I contacted the seller several times with questions, always received a prompt and accurate response. When I received the D8 I went through a very simple registration and update process and then went to try it out. My expedition pulled a code for the knock sensor, bank 2. I scanned it with my old OBD reader so I was expecting that, but I just cleared a rodent nest in the area where the sensor wiring runs, I was convinced rodent harm. After scanning the live data with D8, the 2 knock sensors (row 1 and 2) are displayed graphically, as you can see on the picture you can see that both sensors register, bank 2 just does not register correctly. Bad sensor confirmed. Then I scanned my mother-in-law Kia. ABS and airbag are defective. My old reader was useless to them. ABS turned out to be a bad brake light switch. This switch has 2 pins, one for light, one for ABS and cruise control. The brake lights worked so I was sure the switch was ok. With D8 I was able to test the function of the switch. I could see that one contact didn't change their status. Switch ordered for $11! Checking the airbag led me straight to the clockspring behind the steering wheel. Simplicity, far fewer assumptions, and real-time real-time data for every sensor and switch! Out of curiosity, I tried this on my 2006 Range Rover, a difficult vehicle to scan with so many patented test parameters. I could see and even test everything, adjust the air suspension. Just great! One thing I noticed is that the device won't turn on when plugged into a charger or OBD port. You can plug in the power cord after startup.
