Review on πŸŽ₯ Sony DCR-HC62 MiniDV Camcorder: Discontinued 1MP Handycam with 25x Optical Zoom by Byron Forman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Just received

After racking my brains about which camera to buy, I took a chance and bought this one. I bought a Sony mini DVD camcorder and returned it after realizing the results were pretty poor. I didn't want to spend money to go to HD and people told me that mini DV is the best picture quality you can get if you don't go to HD. Again, I'm generally happy with the purchase. The camera performs well in relatively low light, and the sound is good too. My goal for this purchase is to make family films, not documentaries, and I think it's fine for that purpose. It's easy to use, the touchscreen is ok - some reviews said it's too small but honestly I think it's ok. On the other hand, it's easier than I thought. I'm someone who judges quality by weight, but I guess it's really not that big of a deal. Someone might consider this a plus - this camera is very light. Also, some of the covers on the various entrances and exits are quite fragile and look like they might break on the street. But so far so good. Finally, as mentioned by some other reviews, no cable is included to connect to the Sony VRD device that I also purchased. However, the cable here at Revain is cheap so you can buy it now to keep it available. Still pretty good.
